Three more Vietnamese Universities listed in the 2021 QS Asia University Rankings
Quacquarelli Symonds is a renowned UK-based education
organization and just announced its 2021 list of the leading universities in
Asia. Last year, eight Vietnamese university-level institutions were included
but this year the Hanoi Pedagogy University, the Industrial University in Ho
Chi Minh City and the University of Economy in Ho Chi Minh City were also added
to the list.

Of the eleven universities in this year’s list, the
Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City is now at 158, down 15 from
2020; VNU in Hanoi is at 160, down 13; the Hanoi University of Science and
Technology placed 301-350, down from 261-270; and Can Tho University is now in
the 451-500 range, down from 401-450.
Some universities declined, but several improved their
rankings, such as Duy Tan University, up to 350-400 from 451-500 and Hue
University, up to 401-450 from 451-500.
The QS Asia University Rankings are based on 11 metrics
with different weights; academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%),
faculty/student ratio (10%), ratio of faculty holding PhD degrees (5%),
publications per faculty (5%), citations per publication (10%), international
research networks (10%), international faculty (2.5%), international students
(2.5%), domestic exchange students (2.5%) and exchange students overseas
(2.5%).
QS compiles evaluations of 70,000 higher education
experts on the quality of teaching and research and has become the world’s
largest survey of academic opinion, in size and in scope.
